Eid in Dubai
‘Eid in Dubai’ is a Dubai Government initiative organised by the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment and aims at promoting Dubai as a festive destination during Eid-Al-Fitr and Eid-Al-Adha celebrations. It attracts families in Dubai and the GCC through organising and embracing various entertainment events that will be held during Eid and highlighting Dubai’s unique celebration of this special occasion.
‘Eid in Dubai’ emphasises the fact that the diverse social and cultural fabric of Dubai is as significant as its dynamic economic growth. The cosmopolitan city hosts over 200 nationalities that coexist in exceptional harmony and despite different orientations and cultural backgrounds, residents and visitors in Dubai come together to share joyous moments during different festivities hosted all year round. ‘Eid in Dubai’ is another valuable addition that enhances the spirit of the city.
‘Eid in Dubai’ also aims at highlighting the true values and traditions of this joyous occasion. The spirit of giving and sharing is spread across the city through concepts such as diyafat al Eid and fuwallat al Eid in addition to Eidakom Mubarak – the term commonly used to greet one another on Eid regardless of nationality. As an integral part of Arab hospitality during Eid, these concepts hold great significance when family members, neighbours, and guests are invited home with sweets and coffee, and share meals, thus contributing to a festive atmosphere that enhances relationships amongst neighbourhoods and community members within the society.
